Using a Wireless Barcode Scanner

A wireless barcode scanner is easy to scan barcodes in bulk and for a much smaller cost than most corded models. The barcode scanner basically works very much like a cordless telephone. It communicates with a unit that has a pre-defined set of fixed distances within which the machine can be used. The unit is then connected directly to a personal computer which keeps the unit constantly updated with any new information it requires.

Wireless systems are easier to install since they only require one outlet – no more digging and wiring. Wireless models are also often less expensive, although this may depend on the brand you buy and whether you purchase a wireless or cordless model. Most cordless, wireless barcode scanners connect via a USB cable, so they can be used with any Bluetooth enabled device (which will allow you to scan twice as many items)
